A Day in Venice, Italy

A Day in Venice, Italy

After getting off the ferry, we were in Piazza San Marco, the most popular of the attractions in Venice. The Basilica Cattedrale Patriarcale di San Marco (Patriarchal Cathedral Basilica of Saint Mark) is the centerpiece of this gorgeous square, though all around were lovely sights, such as the Campanile, a free-standing tower which is technically part of St. Marks Basilica, and the endless windows of the Procuratie Vecchie.

Once we toured through the touristy areas, it was time to get lost (down the narrow maze of the city’s less-frequented areas. The tourists seemed to be disappearing in significant numbers as the sun set, which was a nice change for us. We walked with no destination in mind, no plans, and no priorities; it was such a great feeling.
